Mary (メリイ, Merī) also called Merry in anime, known as Wicked Mary or Scary Mary, becomes the new Priest of Haruhiro's party after Manato dies.

Personality

Her initial standoff behaviour and her insistence to decide by herself when or not to heal injured party members has made her very unpopular with previous groups that she joined before Haruhiro's.

Later it is revealed that she was quite the contrary, being the cheerful and mood-maker of her first party. It is shown that the party was doing very well. Unfortunately being over-confident, the party dived too deep into an excursion and resulted in Mary running out of magical spells to heal her party members. The tragedies scarred her, leading to her questioning her own worth as a Priest.

Abilities

Like the former Manoto, Mary is not allowed to use Slashing or Piercing attack. However, being a Priest, she is equipped with a barrage of physical attacks that will allow her to fend off enemies who is targeting supporting members of the party. In particularly, Mary is the final line of defence between the party Mage and any flankers that slipped in for surprise attack.

The Class Priest is also skilled with the art of healing injuries in the midst of battle. However, this appears to be tapping on a limited inner power of the priest. Such skill can only be cast or used for limited number of times per excursion. It is unknown how long exactly that the priest need to rest after the excursion in order to recover the power again.

  • [SMASH]: A basic physical attack with the priest's staff. As the staff itself have little power, the priest will usually need some time to charge up the momentum in a series of spinning moves before unleashing the staff in striking blow
  • [COUNTERSTRIKE]: A advance physical attack that improve the defence in anticipation of a parrying a incoming attack. The move will make use of the recoil from the parried attack into swing back to striking the enemy.
  • [CURE]: The priest invoke this power and will lay hand on the injured party member. Closes wounds and removes injuries.
  • [HEAL]: Similar to CURE. However, the priest does not need to be in direct contact with the injured member as this can be invoked from a distance away.
